Our Early Childhood Program
We are proud to announce that as of 2018,
Silver Lining School of the Arts is a licensed
Leap ‘N Learn studio. Our early childhood
educators have gone through rigorous training in child psychology and anatomy. They also continue their education each summer by attending the annual Leap ‘N Learn conference in Louisiana.
Leap 'N Learn focuses on the basic elements of physical space and how we relate to it as an individual and a group member, locomotor and non-locomotor movements, musical awareness, opposites, directions, and pathways, elementary positions, and movements of ballet. In addition to these physical elements, our dance program integrates the intellectual concepts of self-awareness, teamwork, creative expression, imagination, and basic body and health awareness.

LNL also helps children learn the basics of classroom behavior and manners, which include learning how to take turns, following another dancer or leading the way, waiting patiently, working together with others, and having a positive attitude. Concepts are explored throughout the year such as classroom etiquette, musical awareness, relationships to the working space and stage, expressing emotion through movement, and pantomime.

Classes are grouped into age-specific levels as of their age September 1st. The program is specifically designed for boys & girls, ages two to eight. At age 8 students take part in a beautiful graduation at our end of the year dress rehearsal.  Our LNL graduates exit the program with the foundational skills necessary to continue their classical training in our level 1-5 program. These skills benefit the dance students for later roles in life both in general applications and for transitioning into young adult ballet.
